PHOTO DYNAMIC LED LIGHT THERAPY

  • LED Light Therapy

LED Light Therapy is a popular and non-invasive treatment that rejuvenates skin at the cellular level. It uses different wavelengths of light to penetrate the skin and enhance its natural healing ability, effectively treating conditions such as acne, aging, and sun damage. The treatment's cellular benefits may increase energy, nutrient absorption and protection against free radicals. Our skin specialists can combine different wavelengths to target specific skin concerns.

    • Acne: Blue LED light kills acne-causing bacteria, reduces inflammation, and improves skin texture.

    • Wrinkles and fine lines: Red LED light stimulates collagen production, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

    • Hyperpigmentation: LED therapy evens skin tone and reduces the appearance of dark spots, helping with hyperpigmentation.

    • Rosacea: Red LED light reduces inflammation and redness associated with rosacea.

    • Psoriasis: LED therapy reduces inflammation and improves overall skin health in individuals with psoriasis.

  • Skin Needling

Skin needling, also known as micro-needling or collagen induction therapy, is a cosmetic procedure that uses a device with fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin to trigger the body's natural healing response. This produces new collagen and elastin fibres to treat various skin concerns, such as fine lines, wrinkles, scars, stretch marks, and uneven skin texture and is performed on different body areas, including the face, neck, chest, and hands.

    • Stimulates new collagen and elastin production, improving skin texture and reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scars, stretch marks, and hyperpigmentation

    • It breaks up scar tissue and promotes new skin cell growth, reducing the appearance of scars caused by acne, surgery, or injury

    • Evens skin tone and improves overall texture by stimulating new collagen and elastin production

*Please note skin needling is not a cure for skin conditions; however, it can compliment other treatments and help maintain healthy skin.

At MD Cosmetic and Skin, we elevate skincare standards with highly trained clinicians using the latest technology  Peels from Dermaceutic Laboratoire, Skinceuticals and Neo Genesis.

We offer multiple different peel types with varying strengths that help with a range of skin issues.

Alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) peels: These are mild peels that use glycolic, lactic, or fruit acids to exfoliate the top layer of the skin. They are used to improve skin texture and reduce fine lines, hyperpigmentation, and acne.

Beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) peels: These peels use salicylic acid to penetrate the pores and exfoliate the skin, making them an effective treatment for acne-prone skin.

Jessner's peel: This peel contains a combination of salicylic acid, lactic acid, and resorcinol, making it a more potent option for treating acne, hyperpigmentation, and age spots.

Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peel: TCA peels are medium-strength peels that can improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, and uneven skin tone.

Phenol peel This is the strongest type of chemical peel and is used to treat severe skin damage, such as deep wrinkles, scars, and sun damage.

  • Photodynamic Therapy

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a medical treatment that uses photosensitizing agents and light to destroy cancer cells and abnormal cells that cause acne, rosacea, and sun damage. It involves applying a photosensitizing agent, which is activated by light, and exposing the area to a specific wavelength of light, causing the agent to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) that can damage or destroy abnormal cells. PDT can be an alternative to medication creams for pre-cancerous lesions or sun spots.

    • Improves acne by targeting acne-causing bacteria and reduces the size and activity of pores that produce excess oil and are prone to blockages

    • Improves rosacea by reducing inflammation in the skin and minimizing the number of blood vessels that cause redness and flushing

    • Treats precancerous skin lesions, including actinic keratosis - rough and scaly skin patches that can develop from sun damage

FAQS

What is the process of this treatment?

We'll ask you to prepare your skin at home or clinic before your treatment day. This may include cleansing, exfoliation, and skin needling to improve absorption of the 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) topical solution. The ALA solution is then applied to the skin and left on for 1-3 hours before rinsing off. Blue and red LED therapy will activate the solution. We will provide aftercare instructions and products to assist with healing and reduce side effects such as redness, discomfort, and swelling.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of PDT treatments needed for precancerous skin lesions typically ranges from one to two sessions, depending on the extent of the lesions. PDT may cause temporary redness and mild discomfort, but side effects are generally few. It is important to note that PDT is not suitable for everyone with precancerous skin lesions - your healthcare provider can determine if PDT is an appropriate treatment option for you.
