5 Tips for Keeping Skin Healthy During Summer

Healthy skin looks and feels better, but sometimes it’s hard to figure out what your skin needs.

In addition to facials on the Sunshine Coast, here at MD Cosmetic and Skin Clinic, we can help you achieve the most beautiful skin year around, both on your face and on your body.

There’s a lot we can do for you, but there are also some things you should be doing on your own to maintain healthy skin all summer long.

Wear Sunscreen Every Day

Sunscreen isn’t just for when you’re going to the beach.

You need to be wearing it every day. Unprotected sun exposure leads to dry skin, sunburn and even skin cancer, none of which is healthy.

To protect your skin from the damaging effects of the sun, all exposed skin should be slathered with sunscreen before going outside.

If you’re out for longer than two hours, you need to reapply it.

Wash Morning and Night

You likely wash your face in the morning when you get up and have a bath or shower, but to keep it really healthy, you should also be washing it before you go to bed at night.

Makeup and impurities will have gathered and clogged your pores during the day, so first remove your makeup and then wash to unclog pores and prevent breakouts.

This double washing routine removes summertime impurities, hydrates skin, and keeps it looking healthy all day.

Be sure to use a facial cleanser designed for your skin type to get the best results.

Moisturise Daily

Using a good quality moisturiser is important for hydrating summer skin, which can get pretty dry when it’s hot outside.

Even if you have oily skin, you shouldn’t skip the moisturiser.

That’s because it quenches summertime skin, infuses it with ingredients that promote good health and give you a fresh, clean palette for your summer makeup and cosmetics.

Again, choose a product designed for your skin type.

Take a Break From Makeup

Summertime is the perfect chance to give your skin a break and keep it fresh and clean.

Makeup can clog pores and irritation on your skin, which can be exacerbated when you sweat or spend a lot of time in the sun.

Instead of a full face, try a highlighter and some lip gloss and let your skin rest otherwise.

A good facial in the summer is something we can do to revitalize your skin as well.

A good care regimen is essential for keeping your skin healthy.
